Cody Robert
Simpson, born 11
January 1997, is an Australian pop singer from Australia, who is currently
signed to US record label Atlantic Records.
Cody began to
record songs in his bedroom during the summer of 2009 and posting them on
YouTube. Some of these songs included I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, "Cry
me a River", and "Señorita" by Justin Timberlake, "I
Want You Back" by Jackson 5, and his own songs "One" and
"Perfect". He was then discovered on YouTube by Shawn
Campbell, a Grammy-nominated record producer who has produced
for Jay-Z and other
Cody released
his debut single, “iYiYiY”, which features American rapper Flo Rida, on May 15th
2010. Cody’s next single was “Summertime”, and the music video for this single
was released on September 20th 2010. Cody
moved to Los Angeles in June 2010 with his family to record his songs with
Atlantic Records and his producer Shawn Campbell. On June 22nd 2010, it was announced that Cody
would participate in the Camplified 2010 Tour, along with other artists,
touring across the United States. The tour began on July 5th 2010 and ended on
August 14th 2010. That same year,
another tour that Cody went on was a middle school tour that took place from
October–November 2010 and covered 9 U.S states.
Cody’s EP, 4 U,
was released on December 21st 2010. The EP included five tracks in total. Cody
recorded a remake of the song "I Want Candy” by The Strangeloves as the
main theme song for the Easter-themed live-action/CGI-animated film Hop.
Coast to
Coast was released on
September 20th 2011 by Alantic Records. It reached number 12 on Billboard 200
selling 24,000 copies. In April 23rd 2011, Cody released the single "On My
Mind” In August 2011 Simpson started his Coast to Coast Mall Tour to promote
his second EP. He played nine dates around the US. On September 22nd 2011, it
was announced that Cody Simpson hired Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun as
his manager.
On June 12th
2012 Simpson released an EP titled "Preview to Paradise" containing
four songs from his upcoming debut studio album, Paradise. Paradise was released October 22nd 2012.
In 2012,
Cody launched his first-ever European headlining tour and opened for Justin
Bieber’s U.S. and European Believe Tour.
Cody recently kicked off his Paradise Tour, which visits 36 cities in
North America.
In
October, HarperCollins will publish Cody’s official autobiography Welcome To
Paradise: My Journey, which will feature never-before-seen photos and
exclusive details about Cody’s life on and off stage, including his early years
as a competitive swimmer.
